Our hearts remain heavy as we continue to process the loss of our referee brother and friend, Larry Stevens. Larry’s presence, leadership, and kindness shaped so much of who we are as a community, and his absence is deeply felt by all of us.
The TBOA and basketball community is currently awaiting confirmation of a date to gather and celebrate Larry’s life. We know how important it is for many of you to come together, share memories, and honor the impact he had on our officials and our association.
About Us
TBOA provides qualified referees for youth, recreation, and school basketball games in Pierce and parts of King County.

We recruit, hire, and develop individuals seeking opportunities as a basketball referee. Our officials are members of your community contracted and trained to officiate basketball assignments within our region.

In 2020, the girls and boys division formed the Tacoma Basketball Officials Association (TBOA). We are proud members of the Washington Officials Association (WOA) and the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA).
